One Stone Foundation

One Stone Foundation is a student-run, not-for-profit organization that combines service and charitable giving with academic and experiential learning.  Students at Riverstone International School develop and operate the foundation, and coordinate individual, class, and school-wide service-learning projects.  Students serve as directors, officers, and committee members of One Stone Foundation.

Why the name "One Stone"?  The name derives from the simple but powerful axiom the "it starts with one".  One stone can change the course of a mighty river.  Often the stone that turns the current requires the support of a stone underneath, and if one stone fails to divert the river, the next one may.  In the same way, every act of service builds upon another and eventually leads to extraordinary change.

One Stone Foundation combines service and charitable giving with academic and experiential learning to fulfill community needs in a way that transforms both the recipient and the provider of the service.  One Stone gives students opportunities to learn valuable skills and develop important values while empowering them to create positive change in their school, communities, and individual lives.
