Admission Procedures

Riverstone is presently accepting applications for the 2008-2009 school year.  Please contact the school for application deadlines.

  • Complete the Application and Parent Questionnaire and return with a $50 non-refundable fee.
  • Applicants for grades 6-12 should complete the Student Questionnaire.
  • Sign the Student Record Release and take it to the principal or registrar of your child's current school and ask that copies of his/her academic and behavioral records, including transcripts and any available standardized test scores, be mailed directly to the RIS Admissions Office.
  • Candidates for grades K-1 and grades 2-5 should take the Teacher Recommendation Form to the child's classroom teacher.  Candidates for grades 6-12 should take forms to current math and English teachers.  Ask that the forms be completed and mailed directly to the RIS Admissions Office.
  • When the file is complete the RIS Admissions Office will contact you to schedule an interview with the Head of School and an all day classroom visit for your child.  Kindergarten applicants will be scheduled for a special Saturday morning assessment (please see Kindergarten Application Schedule for details).
  • Candidates for grades 5-10 will be required to take the Secondary School Admission Test (SSAT).  If the applicant has taken this test within the past year, please have SSAT send a copy of the score report to Riverstone.
  • When all the visits and interviews are completed and the school has received all records requests, the admissions committee will review the file at the next scheduled meeting.  The applicant will then be notified of their admission status.
  • If you are applying for financial aid, please requrest a separate application for financial aid.  Complete this confidential Parent Financial Statement (PFS) and send it to School and Student Services (SSS) as soon as possible in order to be eligible for the first financial aid awards.
