Riverstone Senior Honored by Distinguished Student Award

Thursday, January 5th, 2012

Congratulations to senior Davis G. for being honored as this week’s United Dairyman’s Distinguished Student! Davis was interviewed by KTVB Channel 7 anchor, Doug Petcash, and will appear in Thursday night’s 10 PM broadcast. The interview may be watched on Channel 7′s website within a day or two of the broadcast as well.

Since 2002, Idaho’s dairy farm families began recognizing well-rounded senior students who excel as leaders in academics, athletics, volunteerism and extracurricular activities. Each week throughout the school year, four students from each Idaho market (Southwestern, Eastern, North and South Central) are selected as “Distinguished Student Award” winners. Yearly, four students from the winners are selected as “DSA Students of the Year.” Weekly winners earn their schools a $100 scholarship and yearly winners’ schools receive a $5000 scholarship thanks to each student’s achievement.

To date, Idaho Dairy Farm Families have awarded over a half a million dollars to Idaho’s schools! Learn more by visiting the DSA website.

Middle School Girls Basketball

Thursday, November 10th, 2011

The Middle School Girls Basketball team is in the early stages of their short season. The players are learning and improving each day, so it is exciting to see where they’ll be by the end of the season! We have great energy and enthusiasm on the team. Many of the girls played soccer in the fall so they came into the season well prepared fitness-wise. Next week should be even better!

Thanks to Middle School teacher, Aaron Olswanger, for coaching the girls. Go Otters!

High School Volleyball Season of Firsts

Thursday, October 20th, 2011

Written by High School Volleyball Coach, Julie Kissler:

“What a season of firsts! The girls gave it their all this year and for the first time in Riverstone history had a varsity volleyball WIN against Ambrose with game winning scores of 25-10, 25-22, and 15-9! This was such a special year; we were able to celebrate five of our graduating seniors in Riverstone’s first ever Senior Night!

I am so proud of the amount of effort each girl put into each game and it definitely showed. Every player improved so much! As a coach, it was fun to watch not only them grow with their volleyball skills but also to watch their friendships grow! I am proud of each and every single one, and our senior girls contributed so much to the team.

I look forward to what the new season next year brings!”

Middle School Volleyball

Friday, October 7th, 2011

This year’s Middle School Volleyball team impressed us with their positive attitude and work ethic. Although they didn’t have a winning season, other coaches complimented our team’s major improvement from last year. The players improved in all areas including serving, passing, setting, and hitting. We have no doubt that this group of girls will be a strong team when they hit the high school court!

Thank you to Coach Vierra Reed and her Assistant Coach, Tatjana T (Gr 12), for a great season! And congratulations to our student athletes for representing Riverstone so well!
