NHD Success for Riverstone students.

Riverstone students continued their exceptional tradition in the National History Day competition this weekend..

This year’s competition was far larger than previous years with approximately 250 students competing from across the Treasure Valley. From that, Riverstone has 10 students advancing to the State competition on April 16 at the College of Idaho.

Individual Results were as follows (please congratulate these students if you see them):

Youth Individual Documentary – Jack Johnson, 2d place

Senior Individual Documentary – Roan Berg, 1st place

Senior Individual Papers – Regan Bell, 1st place, Lucas Macha, 2d

Place, Andrew Roan, 3d Place

Junior Individual Exhibits – Ava Macha, 1st Place (in her flight),

Mackenzie Roan, 2d Place (in her flight), Zach Snow, 3d Place (in his

flight), Maddi Nelson, 4th Place (in her flight)

Senior Individual Exhibits – (by flight)

Grace Guryan, 1st Place, Sarah Schaff, 2d Place, Elena Snow, 3d

Congratluations to all the students, these results are remarkable.

Also, thank you to Andy Johnson for taking on the NHD this year and guiding our students through the process.

A big week for Pre-K!

Middle School Play, Huge Success

Of Nothing and Noble had its opened on night on Tuesday February 23rd to rave reviews from the audience. Written, choreographed, produced and performed by the students (even the original music score and lyrics were written by the students) this was a truly unique performance of the Prince and the Pauper.

I know I am biased, but I was truly amazed at how good this production was, both well written and well performed. My sincere appreciation goes to all the actors, the behind the scenes people, the volunteer parents and teachers and especially the creators of this masterpiece: Davis Gilton, Paul Martin, Nat Steven , Sarah Chu and Trevor Wallace.

Kudos also goes to Alison Steven who believed in them, encouraged them and guided them in such a way that they believed in themselves.

Brilliant! A truly, “only at Riverstone” moment.

The play, to be shown at the Fulton Street Theater on Feb 23 and 24 is already almost sold out for both nights. If you don’t have tickets yet, you should contact Robyn as soon as possible.

Inaugural Quiz Night – Huge Success

Riverstone’s first ever Quiz Night was a huge success on Friday evening. Our enormous gratitude and platitudes go to the PA,, and especially Karla Haun and her team, for creating and event full of competitive spirit and liberally laced with fun and outright silliness.

I will never forget having to dance the tango with Bob Carignan as punishment for shouting out!

Riverstone Students PSAT success

Riverstone students in Grades 8 to 11 shone in their recent PSAT tests scoring well above national averages even compared to much older students. What is most remarkable is that 5 Grade 10 students would have earned National Merit Scholar status – unfortunately, they will have to wait until Grade 11.

The winter outdoor program continues with the Grade 9 Snow Cave trip. Students spend three days in the mountains, building and living in their own snow caves!

Riverstone’s winter trips get under way

The winter outdoor season has started at Riverstone with the traditional Gd8, three-day snow shoe trip. Snow, snow and more snow was order of the first day, but the students still made incredible progress…..even Mrs Elam who had to have an extra sled just for her bed!

School resumed today with a new buzz of excitement as the Elementary and middle schoolers got to see their new facilities for the first time.

Riverstone moves in to its new building!

Thank you to everyone who turned up on Saturday morning to help us move in to the new building. It was truly a family affair and gives new meaning to the phrase “it take a village”

As one of you pointed out, it was just like a barn raising!
