About Boise, Idaho

Idaho's capitol city is situated along the Boise River, and the "City of Trees" is home to corporations like Hewlett-Packard, Micron Technology, SuperValue (formerly Albertsons, Inc.), Washington Group International, and the Simplot Corporation. Located at the northeast edge of the Treasure Valley at the base of the Boise foothills, which provide both beauty and easy recreational access.

The downtown Boise area is filled with shops, restaurants and art galleries, and is a thriving mini-metropolis. The Idaho Historical Museum and the Basque Block showcase some of Idaho's historical roots, while the Boise Art Museum brings bits of other cultures closer to home. Downtown Boise also boasts some turn-of-the-century buildings that have been renovated to accommodate new businesses. Next to modern structures, these older buildings add historic charm and character to the city. The Greenbelt is a paved pedestrian and bike path that runs along 25 miles of the Boise River, and connects several popular parks. It is ideal for bicyclists, in-line skaters, runners, dog-walkers and recreationalists.

Boise hosts annual summer events such as Alive After Five, the Idaho Shakespeare Festival, and the Western Idaho Fair. Attractions such as the World Center for Birds of Prey, The Idaho Botanical Gardens and the Old Penitentiary, and Zoo Boise are also recommended stops on a visit to Boise. Within a two-hour driving distance recreation destinations include Sun Valley, McCall, Tamarack, Hells Canyon, the Craters of the Moon National Park, City of Rocks and Bruneau Hot Springs.
