The Class of 2010 recently returned from their senior trip, which came on the heels of their IB “Trials Week.” What better way to celebrate than to head for the mountains to ski, board and snowshoe in some of the most spectacular country around! It was a great way to wrap up an incredible outdoor program career for some and an unbelievable way to introduce some of the RIS exchange students to the Idaho backcountry! Check out these pictures from their excursion to Fishhook Yurt…

Class of 2010 Senior Trip – Sun, Smiles and Powder!
Tuesday, February 23rd, 2010Elementary School Rafting Trips This Week
Sunday, August 30th, 2009It looks like we should have some great weather for the year’s first Outdoor Program adventures! The 3rd, 4th and 5th graders hit the water on Thursday, September 3, followed by the Kindergarten through 2nd grade on Friday.
This year brings a new twist to the rafting trips as some of Riverstone’s own students will be doing some of the guiding and safety boating. Andrew Roan, Kang Min Kim, and Will Miller (all Class of 2011) and Coleman Roan (Class of 2012) have been working with Cascade Raft and Kayak all summer and will get time away from classes to make sure their younger Riverstone schoolmates have a safe and fun time on the water!
Big wins for Riverstone goalkeepers!
Thursday, April 9th, 2009Goalies Olyad Debo, Ian Rice and Jon Frizzell all contributed great performances this week in big games for the Riverstone soccer program. On Tuesday, April 7 Ian Rice and Jon Frizzell combined to limit a much bigger and physical Sons of Wellington team to four goals, ensuring that Steven Egeler and Ian Cherny’s combined 5 goals were good enough for the win. Outweighed by 30 pounds, but refusing to give up his ground, Ian Rice withstood several collisions with hard-charging Wellington forwards. Jon Frizzell stepped in to give Ian a chance to gather himself after a particularly hard hit and then supported the team on the field, coming close to scoring a few goals of his own from the midfield position. On Wednesday, April 8, 7th grader Olyad Debo had his first shut-out performance for the Middle School Otters. The 3-0 shut-out performance was particularly impressive considering that it included a penalty shot save in the second half. Appropriately, when the final whistle blew, it was with the ball in Olyad’s hands.
Congratulations to all three of Riverstone’s netminders!
RSFC Notches First Win of Spring Season
Friday, April 3rd, 2009RSFC defeated the Eagle Patriots last night, 5-3, in a close, well-played match in an afternoon thunderstorm. After jumping to an early 2-0 lead with goals in the 3rd and 7th minutes from Nic Anderson and Steven Egeler, RSFC settled down and eventually extended the lead in the 34th minute with second goal from Egeler. At half the score was a comfortable 3-1, but the Patriots persisted and the remainder of the game was played within a one-goal margin. Nic Anderson’s goal in the 52nd minute and Ian Cherny’s game-sealer in the 78th put the game out of reach. Men of the Match: Nic Anderson and Ian Cherny, but congratulations to all for their efforts in the win!
Next Game: Saturday, April 4 @ 3:00 p.m. vs. International. (Ann Morrison Field #6).
Riverstone Spring Soccer Seasons Underway
Wednesday, March 11th, 2009The Riverstone soccer teams got their seasons underway on a cold & blustery Saturday last weekend. Though both games resulted in losses, the foundations have been set for successful seasons. The Middle School Otters matched up against Borah Heat and played a much closer game than the 5-0 score indicated. 8th Grader Alex Rose came inches…no, millimeters!…from her first Riverstone goal and she can’t be held off for much longer! In the High School game, RSFC got out to an early lead with a second minute goal from German exchange student Steven Egeler. Over the remainder of the first half, Mountain View tallied five goals, but were held scoreless in the second, and the game finished 5-2. The Middle School Otters play their next game on Saturday, March 14 against the Rebels. Kickoff is at 9:00 a.m. on Ann Morrison Field #5. The High School RSFC faces off against Runnin’ Riot, also on Saturday, March 14 at 11:00 a.m. on Ann Morrison Field #4. Come on out and catch a double header this weekend!
