RSFC Notches First Win of Spring Season

Friday, April 3rd, 2009

RSFC defeated the Eagle Patriots last night, 5-3, in a close, well-played match in an afternoon thunderstorm.  After jumping to an early 2-0 lead with goals in the 3rd and 7th minutes from Nic Anderson and Steven Egeler, RSFC settled down and eventually extended the lead in the 34th minute with second goal from Egeler.  At half the score was a comfortable 3-1, but the Patriots persisted and the remainder of the game was played within a one-goal margin.  Nic Anderson’s goal in the 52nd minute and Ian Cherny’s game-sealer in the 78th put the game out of reach.  Men of the Match: Nic Anderson and Ian Cherny, but congratulations to all for their efforts in the win!

Next Game: Saturday, April 4 @ 3:00 p.m. vs. International.  (Ann Morrison Field #6).

Riverstone Spring Soccer Seasons Underway

Wednesday, March 11th, 2009

The Riverstone soccer teams got their seasons underway on a cold & blustery Saturday last weekend. Though both games resulted in losses, the foundations have been set for successful seasons.  The Middle School Otters matched up against Borah Heat and played a much closer game than the 5-0 score indicated.  8th Grader Alex Rose came inches…no, millimeters!…from her first Riverstone goal and she can’t be held off for much longer!  In the High School game, RSFC got out to an early lead with a second minute goal from German exchange student Steven Egeler.  Over the remainder of the first half, Mountain View tallied five goals, but were held scoreless in the second, and the game finished 5-2.  The Middle School Otters play their next game on Saturday, March 14 against the Rebels.  Kickoff is at 9:00 a.m. on Ann Morrison Field #5.  The High School RSFC faces off against Runnin’ Riot, also on Saturday, March 14 at 11:00 a.m. on Ann Morrison Field #4.  Come on out and catch a double header this weekend!

Riverstone Soccer Teams Finish Strong

Monday, November 3rd, 2008

On Saturday, November 1, Riverstone soccer teams won 2 out of 3 games as the Fall Classic Tournament came to an end.  The Middle School Otters won their game 1-0 against the Rebels; an early goal followed by good tough defense prevailed.  The RSFC High School team played two hard-fought games.  The first, a 3-4 nail-biter victory over the Eagle Patriots, set the team up to play for 3rd place.  A couple late goals from Team Boise in the second game were too much to overcome as RSFC lost 3-5.

If you didn’t get a chance to see the Riverstone teams in action, you missed out!  The season was an incredible success.  In it’s first year, the Middle School team had some great games, highlighted by a 1-1 tie against the top-ranked team in the league.  The RSFC team finished 7-3 and is poised for more success as a large contingency of 9th graders has laid a solid foundation for the future.  Don’t miss out next spring!
