Why Riverstone
Riverstone International School inspires courageous journeys of academic and personal exploration that enable our students to lead purposeful lives.
Our Approach
Built for curious minds
As Idaho’s first International Baccalaureate World School—and one of only 37 U.S. schools authorized in all three IB programmes—we’ve spent years perfecting an education that balances academic rigor with real-world experience. Students study two languages, dive deep into humanities, science, mathematics, and the arts, then graduate ready to engage meaningfully in college and beyond.
Students thrive here because of small classes, personal attention, and opportunities that stretch far beyond textbooks. From our 14-acre campus along the Boise River to learning experiences around the globe, Riverstone students grow into independent thinkers and global citizens.

Small by design
We’re a private, independent school serving preschool through high school, and we keep it that way intentionally. When teachers know every student, relationships deepen and learning accelerates.

The Five Pillars
Academic Excellence, Community and Service, Leadership by Example, International Understanding, and Outdoor Education aren’t just words on a wall—they’re how our students spend their days, whether conducting water-quality tests in the Boise River or leading projects that matter.

Results that speak
Our students consistently outperform peers on standardized tests. Our IB Diploma pass rate exceeds both Idaho and global averages. And 84% of our IB diploma holders graduate from college in four years, compared to 39% nationally. We’re ranked #1 among K-12 private schools in Idaho, top 4% nationally, and in the top 1% of American high schools.

Individualized College counseling
Our personalized approach means each student finds their right match—not just any match. Graduates leave academically prepared and ready to engage with professors and classmates, which matters more for college success than almost anything else.

The IB Experience
The International Baccalaureate isn’t just a curriculum—it’s an educational philosophy. Students develop as independent learners and critical thinkers, gaining the cultural awareness and academic foundation that top universities recognize and value.
Our students are part of a global network of over 3,000 schools offering the Diploma Programme, with more than 170,000 IB candidates worldwide. They consistently exceed global pass rates and outperform Idaho and national averages on the ACT and SAT. Research shows IB diploma holders thrive in college, with higher retention rates and stronger academic performance.
Our History, Your Future
Throughout our history, we’ve stayed committed to one idea: students flourish when they’re known, supported, and challenged. That commitment has made us who we are—a place where curiosity meets opportunity, and where the education students receive today shapes the lives they’ll lead tomorrow.
