Shadrach Pilip-Florea

DP English Teacher

Shadrach Pilip-Florea is excited to return to Riverstone as the DP English teacher. Shadrach has served as a Middle Years Programme (MYP) Curriculum Manager at the International Baccalaureate Organization’s Global Headquarters in The Hague, Netherlands. He was part of the small team responsible for designing and developing the MYP curriculum and assessment frameworks used by over 600,000 students globally. Before joining the IB, Shadrach was a Riverstone humanities teacher and personal project coordinator. Shadrach is a dedicated international educator who has taught various subjects—from Economics to English—from middle school to university level. He has lived and taught in Madrid, Spain, and Beijing, China. In the past, he has been an IBDP Examiner and IB Educator Network (IBEN) workshop leader. He was a member of the curriculum design team for the recently launched DP Digital Society course—an innovative interdisciplinary course exploring the impact and importance of digital systems and technologies in our contemporary world. Shadrach has an avid curiosity for the world and a deep love of the humanities. He grew up in Portland, Oregon, where he attended Reed College and Portland State University. Before becoming a teacher Shadrach was a construction project manager and holds a Master’s in Urban and Regional Planning from the University of California at Los Angeles. Shadrach loves ideas, running, photography, skiing, backpacking, soccer, building, and hanging out with his hilarious daughters Finley and Ruby. They are also very excited to be returning to Riverstone.
