John Pedersen

MYP Science Teacher

John grew up in Wisconsin marching in a drum and bugle corps. Wanting to make a difference in the world, he received a B.S. in Wildlife Ecology from the University of Wisconsin while working full time in an analytical laboratory. While in school, John assisted with the reintroduction of the Peregrine Falcon, volunteered at the International Crane Foundation, and was involved with wildlife rehabilitation. After graduating, John was employed at the Fish & Wildlife Health Research Lab when the Exxon Valdez disaster occurred and assisted with necropsying the affected wildlife. While pursuing his education degree, John was a counselor at a group home and did extensive work on the Fort Hall Indian Reservation. John received several accolades while teaching in public school, for four years the graduating class of Skyview and Columbia High Schools chose him as the Most Inspirational Middle School Teacher, he was also KIZN radio’s Teacher of the Year, and Wal-mart’s State Teacher of the Year. John joined Riverstone in 2006 teaching middle school science.
