Born and raised in Moscow, Idaho, Ryan’s passion for math and science was kindled in middle school by reading the works of Carl Sagan. He holds a B.S. in Applied Computational Mathematics with a minor in Computer Science from the University of Idaho. Following graduation, Ryan relocated to the Seattle area, where he spent over 15 years in big-tech working as a Technical Software Designer, specializing in AI and gameplay systems for an advanced racing simulator. Driven by a lifelong dedication to serving others and a desire to mentor the next generation, he transitioned into a career in education in 2025. Outside the classroom, Ryan is an avid reader who enjoys fly fishing and wildlife photography. He resides in Boise with his wife and their gray and white cat, Gandalf.
