Riverstone Grade 9 students recently hosted a very powerful Poverty Simulation, in conjunction with the 9th graders from the Community School in Ketchum and volunteers from the United Way of Treasure Valley. Over 60 participants were cast as family members facing a number of stressful challenges including job loss, homelessness, and other harsh realities of poverty. Reflecting on the simulation and presentation which followed, students remarked that they found it very moving and eye-opening.
Thanks to Laurel Carignan for spearheading the efforts to organize this event.
