How to Verify that your Rain Gear is Really Waterproof

Grade 7 students are heading out this week on their spring trip: a four day raft trip on the Deschutes River where students will float the river during the day and set up camp at different sites each night.

In preparation for the trip, Outdoor Director Ben Brock wanted to ensure that students had proper waterproof rain gear. After all, there is a big difference between water-repellent and waterproof gear when you’re spending four days on a river in Oregon!

Ben hauled out the garden hose and let it rip with a full blast of water…judging by the looks on their faces, our 7th graders are ready for wet conditions!
