Grade 5 Beautifies the School

Brad Baxter’s Grade 5 students have been hard at work on a community landscape project that they initiated and implemented. The students wrote the following to bring us up to speed on their idea and long term goal for the garden:

“We saw one bird in a lone tree behind our classroom……we imagined much more! To attract more wildlife and beautify our campus, the fifth grade decided to embark on a landscape project that would focus on draught tolerant plant species. We visited Edward’s Nursery to learn about landscaping and how to grow plants indoors. We then began growing plants in the classroom’s miniature greenhouse. Once the weather warmed up the class broke ground and began planting. These students will continue to run the project as they move through middle and high school, growing the landscaped area each year.”

The garden is in between the Elementary School building and the Middle School building. Check it out!
