Congratulations to our Grade 10 students who completed their Personal Projects and were honored at a Middle Years Programme Ceremony on Tuesday. Projects include a Japanese raku pottery kiln, a blog designed to be a “one stop” stop for all things dance related in the Boise area, and another website aimed at teaching the basic skills of soccer in a nearly wordless presentation, as well as other similarly creative and challenging ideas.
The Personal Project, to paraphrase the International Baccalaureate Organization, is a significant student-directed inquiry project researched and developed over an extended period and completed during year 5 (sophomore year of High School) of the MYP. It holds an important place in the MYP and at Riverstone and should reflect the student’s experience of the program. It provides an excellent opportunity for students to produce a truly personal and creative work of their choice and to demonstrate the skills they have developed through approaches to learning. It offers students many opportunities for differentiation of learning and expression according to their individual needs. The Personal Project, along with the Grade 5 Exhibition and the Grade 12 Extended Essay, is an important marker of our students’ ability to manage extended research projects and presentations.
Congratulations Grade 10!
