
High school French teacher, Hortense Everett, keeps her French class relevant, interesting, and challenging to her students by asking them to create their own blogs and blog once a week. According to Hortense, “Blogging is a good way for students to use technology on both the research and the writing fronts. Students in grades 10 and 11 have to read an article in French from a French online source and write a report on what they read, including reflecting on questions that the article may have raised. It is a good way for students to practice reading-comprehension, develop their vocabulary, keep in touch with news, and reflect while writing in their second language. This assignment will also help students with choosing a topic for their Internal Assessment by exploring French news sources on a weekly basis.”
