Model United Nations: Team Ireland

This weekend, a group of five students from Riverstone’s Model United Nations
organization went to Eugene, Oregon for the Model UN conference.
Hundreds of students from high schools in the Northwest participated
in the event, which requires that students debate and analyze
real-world problems and solutions. Our team represented the country of
Ireland at the conference, a country about which this group has been
studying. Our students, in tandem with other students, eventually pass
or reject various simulated resolutions in this conference.

Lucas M, the head of the group, states that Model UN encourages the
development of many useful skills. He described the systematic
exploration of resolutions proposed by other countries, and how this
allows students to develop their abilities in analysis, collaboration,
and finally, thesis development and public speaking. Overall, team
Ireland had a strong presence and a successful trip.

Thanks to Jami Whitmer for advising Riverstone’s Model UN team!
